Conduct Expectations

Students shall be held responsible for knowing and complying with this code of student behavior.

 Students understand and agree to:

1. Demonstrate acceptable behavior in the classroom, on the school grounds, and on the way to and from school and avoid behaviors that can contribute to a disruptive environment.

2. Follow all directions of the classroom teacher and other school staff, obey the rules and regulations of each classroom, and avoid disturbing others.

3. Comply with the school dress code.

4. Make every possible effort to complete work assigned, make up work missed due to absences and complete the required course of study.

5. Attend class on time, everyday, unless ill or with a valid excuse.

6. Come to school prepared with a notebook, pencil and paper.

7. At no time make any threat to commit, attempt to commit, or commit any physical violence against school personnel or another student.

8. At no time use obscene or gang-related gestures or signs.

9. At no time deface, damage, destroy, steal, or litter school, district property or the property of other persons.

10. At no time use profane, vulgar or abusive language or make obscene or suggestive gestures.

11. At no time make harassing or threatening statements, intimidate or coerce students or staff members.

12. At no time loiter on or near school grounds.

13. At no time use, possess, or distribute tobacco, any controlled substance (including marijuana), narcotics, alcohol or intoxicant, weapons or other contraband on school campus.

14. At no time possess or distribute look-alike drug substances or drug paraphernalia.

15. At no time bring any form of radio, tape player, electronic games, beepers, cameras or headsets to school. I understand that the school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  15. I understand that the school is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  Toys and items such as yo-yo's, sunglasses, and Pokemon cards are not appropriate for school and should be left at home.

16. At no time bring felt tip pens, markers or art pens of any type to school.

17. At no time bring skateboards or roller blades to school.

18. At no time use personal grooming items in the classroom.

19. At no time offer items for sale at school except for school authorized fundraisers.

Classroom/Campus Conduct

It is the goal of Palm Middle School to provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and to offer opportunities in which students may realize their academic potential. Therefore, it is expected that all students will:

1. Enter and exit the classroom in a quiet and orderly manner.

2. Be in seats and ready to work when the tardy bell rings.

3. Be prepared with covered textbook, pencil/pens, notebook, agenda book and paper at all times.

4. Remain orderly and on task in the classroom and be attentive to the teacher.

5. Respond promptly and courteously to a request or to instruction by a teacher.

6. Keep all textbooks covered. The full price for lost or damaged books will be charged to pay for replacement books.

7. Walk silently in a single file line during an evacuation drill. Students are to sit quietly on the grass under the direction of their teacher until the end of the drill.

8. Walk in the halls and to the lunch lines.

9. Eat in the quad area ONLY. No food is allowed in the halls, classrooms or field area. It is each student's responsibility to clean up after him/herself and to place trash in the proper receptacles. No "cuts" in line. Students "cutting" will be sent to the end of the line and issued an infraction slip. Unshelled sunflower seeds or gum are not permitted on campus.

10. Lock bikes in the bike rack. Reminder: State law requires students to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle.

11. At no time behave in a disruptive manner that interrupts the learning / teaching environment.
